By Road
York is positioned midway between London and Edinburgh and is just 20 minutes from the M1/M62 motorway network enabling the city to be within comfortable travelling time of most regions of the UK.
Directions from the A64:
1) From A64 take exit onto A1036, signposted to the race course
2) Follow A1036, past Tesco and the race course, until you reach the inner ring road (2 ¼ miles).
3) At the inner ring road you will see Micklegate Bar (City Wall) in front of you. Turn right onto Nunnery Lane.
4) Follow Nunnery Lane until it opens into two lanes, now take the right hand lane.
5) At the junction (‘The Swan’ pub in front of you) cross the carriageway onto Clementhorpe (keeping pub to your right).
6) Take the 2 nd turning left and you have reached postern close in Bishops Wharf.
By Rail
York is on the fastest and most efficient train line in Great Britain which links to London in less than 2 hours. Direct links to Manchester, Edinburgh, Birmingham and much of the national rail network means that York is easily accessible by rail from most major cities in Britain.
By Coach
There are regular National Express services which operate between York & London as well as many other major cities.
By Air
York is within easy travelling distance of four international Airports, Manchester, Leeds/Bradford, Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Humberside. The largest of these, Manchester, is just 80 miles with easy connections via the M62 motorway or by a direct train service. Newcastle is also linked by a direct rail service and Leeds/Bradford and Humberside are both easily accessible by road.
